Domestic hot water production - a field study

 

SiOx is testing its coating in the field of domestic hot water production.

Plate heat exchangers are efficient, space saving, and cheap compared to hot-water tanks but scaling becomes a problem on the consumer side of the heat exchanger in areas with hard water. After successful laboratory tests SiOx is now testing the coating in heat exchangers connecting households to district heating.

The tests are carried out in collaboration with a large heat exchanger manufacturer and a major energy supplier. Our solution enhances the manufacturer’s product, lowers the loss of heat for the energy supplier, and saves the end-user money.
